BDA & Emergency Responder Radio Systems (ERRCS)
Firefighters and police depend on their radios inside your building. Concrete, steel, energy-efficient glass, stairwells and below-grade floors can block those signals and leave first responders unable to communicate. A Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) system, also called an Emergency Responder Radio Communication System (ERRCS), boosts public safety radio coverage throughout your building so responders stay connected when it matters most.
Does Your Building Need a BDA System?
Minimum in-building radio coverage for public safety is required under the International Fire Code (Section 510) and NFPA 1225, which Florida enforces through the Florida Fire Prevention Code. Many fire marshals now test radio coverage before issuing a certificate of occupancy, and existing buildings can be required to add a system after a failed coverage test.
You may need a BDA system if your building has:
- New construction or a major renovation underway
- A fire marshal request for a radio coverage test
- Parking garages, basements, tunnels or other below-grade areas
- Concrete or steel construction, or low-E and tinted glass
- High-rise, hospital, school, hotel, warehouse or large retail occupancy
Our BDA / ERRCS Services
- Radio signal surveys and grid testing to find coverage gaps
- System design to NFPA 1225 and local fire code
- Coordination with the public safety radio authority and FCC signal booster registration
- Installation of BDAs, donor antennas, cabling and in-building antennas
- Integration with your fire alarm system for required monitoring
- Acceptance testing with the fire marshal
- Annual testing, 5-year coverage testing and certification
- Repairs, upgrades and replacement of failed equipment

How It Works
- Survey: we measure public safety radio signal strength across your building.
- Design and approvals: we design the system and submit plans to the authority having jurisdiction.
- Installation: our technicians install and connect the amplifiers, antennas and fire alarm monitoring.
- Testing and certification: we perform acceptance testing with the fire marshal and provide documentation.
- Ongoing compliance: we schedule annual and five-year testing so your building stays compliant.
Licensed, insured and NFPA-compliant, our team is headquartered in Orlando, Florida and serves single buildings and multi-site portfolios across the United States.
